Amit Magotra

Amit Magotra is an experienced planner with more than 20 years of experience in development assessment, strategic planning, and planning policy in the Northern Territory and India. He holds a Master's degree in Urban Planning and a Bachelor's degree in Urban and Regional Planning.

With extensive expertise in development assessment, strategic land use planning, urban policy, feasibility studies, and stakeholder engagement, Amit has built a strong track record across both government and private sector planning. He has held several senior planning roles, including Manager, Development Assessment and Manager, Strategic Land Use Planning within the Northern Territory Government's Department of Land, Planning and Environment. In these positions, he led multidisciplinary teams, provided statutory and strategic planning advice to government and industry, and contributed to major planning reforms and policy initiatives across the Northern Territory.

During his career with the Northern Territory Government, Amit assessed and managed more than 400 development applications, including residential, commercial, and complex subdivision projects. He has provided advice to Ministers, the Development Consent Authority, government agencies, developers, and landowners, combining strong technical expertise with a practical understanding of planning systems and approval processes.

Prior to relocating to Australia, Amit held senior planning and executive management roles in India, where he led major urban development projects, managed Project Management Units for development authorities, and delivered strategic planning, policy, and infrastructure initiatives for both government and private sector clients.

Known for his collaborative approach, strategic thinking, and practical problem-solving skills, Amit draws on extensive experience from both government and private consulting to provide clear, commercially focused planning advice. His unique understanding of planning policy, assessment processes, and decision-making frameworks enables clients to navigate planning and approval pathways with confidence and achieve successful project outcomes.
