Amit Magotra I Founder and Principal Planner
Amit Magotra is an experienced urban planner with over 20 years of professional experience in both government and private sector planning in Australia and India. He holds a Master’s degree in Urban Planning and a Bachelor’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning.
Over the course of his career, Amit has developed extensive expertise in development assessment, strategic land use planning, urban policy, feasibility studies and stakeholder engagement. Since joining the Department of Land, Planning and Environment, Northern Territory Government, in 2015, he has progressed through a range of senior planning roles within the Department, culminating in leadership positions, including Manager, Urban Planning, and Manager, Strategic Land Use Planning. In these roles, he has led multidisciplinary teams, provided strategic advice to government, industry and decision-makers, and helped guide major planning reforms and policy initiatives across the Territory.
Amit has assessed and managed over 400 development applications, including residential and commercial developments and complex subdivision proposals. He has also provided high-level planning advice to the Minister, the Development Consent Authority, government agencies, developers, and landowners. His experience combines strong technical knowledge with a practical understanding of how to navigate planning systems to achieve viable development outcomes.
Amit held senior planning and executive management roles in India. There, he led major urban development projects, managed Project Management Units for development authorities, and delivered strategic planning, policy, and infrastructure initiatives for both government and private sector clients.
Known for his collaborative approach, strategic thinking, and practical problem-solving skills, Amit works closely with clients to offer clear, commercially focused planning advice and to achieve successful outcomes from concept through to approval.
